What is a Warming Shelter?
Churches hosting homeless persons to spend the night in our area during our coldest months: December 1, 2015 – February 29, 2016.
Who is leading this effort?
Local churches, Red Cross, Warm Blessings kitchen, St. Vincent De Paul, Helping Hand of HOPE
Can anyone come?
Only homeless persons registered with Warm Blessings during December – February.
What do we do?
A team of persons at GHC will host guests every Saturday evening & Sunday morning at GHC. We will share these responsibilities:
•Pick up homeless persons (guests) at Warm Blessings, 6:30pm
•Transport to Grace Heartland Church, Family Life Center gym
•Provide a snack that evening
•Provide bathrooms, showers, basic toiletry supplies
•Provide space for cots (mattresses, loaned to us by Red Cross)
•Host guests for the evening—to include sleeping on a cot in the same room (if married, spouse can sleep in separate room)
•Provide a light breakfast and a sack lunch for the next day
•Transport guests to Pritchard Community Center by 8am.
