Mission Statement
Our mission is to nurture and equip people for a lifestyle of discipleship, worship and wholeness in Christ, for the purpose of winning others to Him.
We Believe
The Sovereignty of God
There is only one true God who is the creator and sustainer of the universe. God is all-knowing, all-powerful, all-loving and is manifested to the world as one God in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Divine Inspiration of the Holy Scripture
The sovereign God is the author of the Bible, and all the scriptures contained in the Old Testament and the New Testament are, in their original manuscripts, infallible and inerrant. They reveal to us God's will for our lives. The Total Depravity of Man
Although every person has worth as a creation of God, we all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. We are by nature alienated from God and rebellious toward his will. The Deity of Jesus Christ
God came to dwell for a time on the earth in the person of Jesus of Nazareth. Although fully human, Jesus is also fully God. As the only son of God, He was born of the virgin, Mary; He lived a sinless life, was crucified, buried, then rose again to reign eternally as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. The Atonement of the Blood of Christ
When Jesus died on the cross, God was dealing with the problem of human sin. The blood of the crucifixion paid the penalty of sin in full, and made possible the one and only way for humankind to enter into intimate fellowship with God.
Salvation by Grace through Faith
At God's gracious initiative, the offer of salvation was made through the atoning sacrifice of His only son. We are to trust in its sufficiency to save us, and to receive this gift of eternal life requires of us that we simply have child-like faith and believe. The Second Coming is Our Blessed Hope
After His resurrection, Jesus ascended into Heaven with a promise to one day come again and establish His kingdom. Our hope is anchored in the expectation of our Lord's glorious return. The Heralding of the Gospel
To know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is the best thing that can happen to anyone. Such good news is meant to be shared and proclaimed, to the end that all people everywhere may hear and receive. The Church is the Body of Christ
All believers who strive to be true disciples of the living Lord become, by "New Nature", continuing expressions of Christ's presence in the earth. The church exists to save the lost and to edify the saved, just as Jesus did in His earthly ministry. The Holy Spirit
The third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, comes to dwell in believers in Jesus Christ, to empower them for witness, and to be a constant counselor, comfortor, helper, guide and teacher, always bringing Glory to the Lord. The Church is dependent upon the Holy Spirit for its life and strength. Our Position on the Operation of Spiritual Gifts
- Manifestation of the gifts of utterance is a central aspect in the corporate worship of Pentecostal churches.
- Grace Heartland is not part of this stream of church life.
- Any such manifestations without first submitting them to the pastor would be considered out of order.
- Prayer language (an aspect of the gifts of tongues) is freely exercised in private devotional life and small group settings as long as it does not distract others and draw attention to the one practicing it.
Our Position on the Sacrament of Baptism
- If one is baptized in water, but not by Christ in the Holy Spirit, uniting them to the savor, their water baptism remains insignificant.
- Believers, who have been baptized by the immersion mode as a public testimony of their faith, will not be required to be re-immersed just in order to qualify for membership.
- If one has been sprinkled after personal faith, and if he or she is satisfied with that mode and shows evidence of having been baptized in the Holy Spirit (the evidence of which is the indwelling Spirit), they will not be required to be re-baptized, since water is only a symbol.
- At Grace Heartland Church, the immersion mode will be practiced.
Conflict Resolution
- COVENANT - My priorities are to glorify God, build harmony in the church, and avoid conflict.
- FIRST STEP - Go to one who has offended me, "first alone."
- SECOND STEP - Seek a neutral and mature individual who will listen to each of our perspectives of the problem .. I will believe God is using him or her to resolve the conflict, rather than take sides.
- THIRD STEP - Ask the current Board of Elders to hear the offense and how steps toward resolution have been ineffective. Seek to abide by the counsel then provided.
- CONFRONTING MINISTRY LEADERS - Pray for leaders. Follow the same steps in case of conflict.
- SERIOUS STEP - I am committed to pleasing God through resolving my conflicts, even if it means separating myself from the source of my irritations.
- ULTIMATE GOAL - My ultimate goal is to glorify God through bearing much fruit, getting involved in ministry, and avoiding and resolving conflicts.
