What is Affordable Christmas?

A new way to love our neighbors at Christmas! Affordable Christmas takes the place of the food & toy delivery we’ve traditionally done.

How does it work?

On Saturday, December 14, families will come to our Family Life Center, check in their kids to hear the real story of Christmas, and then shop for their kids’ gifts.

Shop for their kids’ gifts?

Yes, the GHC gym will be transformed into a store! Parents/guardians

will pay $10/child and be given tickets to shop:

    - 3 green tickets to get toys in the $10-20 range

    - 2 yellow tickets for gifts in the $25-40 range

    - 1 red ticket for a gift in the $50-70 range

Then, they check out at a station & have the opportunity to wrap gifts.

What about food baskets?

On their way out, the family will receive a food box provided by Helping Hand of Hope in partnership with Feeding America.

Who does this project?

GHC partners with Hardin County Schools, Helping Hand of Hope, First Presbyterian Church & Valley Creek Baptist Church. HCS identify students from G. C. Burkhead & Heartland Elementary Schools who need help to have some food & toys at Christmas.

You can donate directly to Affordable Christmas, just make your gift with "Affordable Christmas." Your monetary gifts will be used to purchase toys for families in need. They will then come, shop and purchase gifts (at a fraction of the cost); which will in turn, restore dignity.
